Prepare For An Arts And Crafts Show Or Festival

Selling items at an arts and craft fair is a business operation that requires preparation.

If you're a painter or make clothing, jewelry, pottery and other items, an arts and crafts show is a venue for selling your handmade goods. Having enough items to make selling worthwhile is just one requirement for becoming an arts-and-crafts show vendor. Preparing yourself for this business venture is another.

Instructions

1. Name your business. Come up with a name that describes what you offer but that isn't so long that no one remembers it.

2. Get a business or retail license. The license allows you to collect and remit sales taxes for your state. Apply for a license on your state secretary's website, fill out the form and submit it online.

3. Buy or rent a tent, tables and chairs.

4. Promote your business. Have a large banner made with your business name and what you offer on it. Display the banner where people can see it when passing by. Have business cards to hand out, as well. Purchase or build a website so people who aren't ready to purchase your items at the fair can contact you later or buy from you online. Include your contact information, the website's name and other information about your business on your business card,
