Origami Instructions To Make Paper Doves With Doilies

Creating a dove origami-style can be a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Origami is a traditional Japanese art form that involves the creator folding paper to create desired shapes. Although you can use any type of paper, using a paper doilie can add a little style to your design. When creating an origami dove with doilies, the lacy part of the doilie gives the illusion of feathers, adding to the beauty of the folded creation. Origami doves can contribute to the ambiance of festive occasions and are a fast and inexpensive way to decorate.

Instructions

Begin to Fold

1. Fold the paper doilie in half. Fold it in half again, then open the fold you just made.

2. Fold both ends in to meet the crease you created in the center. Then, fold the doilie in half.

3. At this point, you should have what resembles an isosceles triangle, and the bottom is the lacy part of the doilie. Make a 1.5-inch to 2-inch cut into the right side of the triangle, about a third of the way down the side.

4. Fold the upper portion of the area you cut up to create a wing effect. Now repeat Step 3 on the other side and fold the upper part of that cut up to create a second wing.

5. Fold the front tip of doilie inside itself, with the point facing down, to create a head shape.
