Paasche Air Eraser Tips

The Paasche Air Eraser can make small etches in glass.

If you want to etch various surfaces or need to remove rust, dirt, paint, corrosion or airbrush-paint mistakes from small areas, you can grab a Paasche Air Eraser. This device is a cross between an airbrush and a sandblaster but on a smaller scale with finer precision.

Uses

Use the Paasche Air Eraser to remove dirt, rust or corrosion from metal, plastic, wood, glass and Plexiglass. The device also removes paint and evens out rough spots on molds and castings. The fast-cutting erasing compound is projected at the object and will help remove unwanted residue with ease. Direct the erasing compound at a fixed, localized point for better precision and accuracy.

Etching Templates

If you want to etch wood, glass or Plexiglass, it is best to follow a template. You can purchase a template from a craft store, order or print one from an online resource or trace a pattern on a sheet of sturdy plastic and cut out the design with an X-ACTO knife. Position the template and tape it in place so it doesn't shift while you work. Turn the Air Eraser on and work in small, even movements.

Protection

Wear eye protection and a face mask when using the Paasche Air Eraser. As you work, small particles from the erasing compound and possibly from the item you are working on will be projected into the air. These particles can irritate or damage your eyes, nose and lungs.

Airbrush Mistakes

Use the Air Eraser to remove airbrush-paint particles to correct a mistake. The device has a precision pinpoint working tip so you can work effectively in small areas.

Checking the Equipment

Before you turn the device on, check to see if the hoses, tip and Air Eraser parts are positioned properly and everything is attached snugly. For example, if your hose or tip is not attached properly, you will not have adequate pressure; recommended air pressure is 20 to 65 lbs. For best results, work in clean, dry air. Store the Air Eraser in its original box or another storage container to keep the device protected and away from dust and moisture.
