Recycled Art Made With Metal

Before tossing your metal to the curb, consider metal recycling projects to create home decor, yard or garden art, or to give away as gifts. Depending on artistic abilities, recycled art creations can be sold at craft shows or on online craft sites, creating extra revenue or as a craft business venture. Recycling metal into a piece of art can be as simple as decorating a can or as difficult as creating a welded sculpture.

Recycled Muffin Pan

Recycle old muffin pans or metal measuring cups and spoon to create an art collage that makes a unique piece of art and is perfect as kitchen decor. The surface of the pan can be painted with complementary colors matching existing decor. Embellish the inside of cups with vintage trinkets or images. Finish the by randomly wrapping it with 22 gauge wire. The wire not only adds visual interest but also provides a way to hang the collage.

Recycled Aluminum Cans

Aluminum cans are readily available with endless possibilities. Smashed cans with a painted image can be mounted to a frame for a fun child project. Cans cut open and laid flat provide an ideal material for drawing and cutting out flowers. Multiple flowers can be painted, easily shaped and arranged in a flower pot for an interesting floral arrangement. These floral pots are perfect for patios, gardens or for an indoor display.

Recycled Metal Washers

Metal washers of all sizes make ideal materials for creating jewelry. Painting the surface of a washer or covering with designer paper creates a one-of-a-kind design. Smaller washers can be used for creating earrings while larger washers make perfect necklace slides. Layer decorated washers with charms, wrap with wire or add etchings and engravings.

Recycled Vegetable Cans

Use clean, empty cans of corn, tuna fish or peas to create storage solutions for pens, pencils or small office supplies such as paper clips and rubber bands. These recycled metal crafts are fun and easy enough for even the youngest crafter. The outer surface can be covered with paper and embellished with glitter, stickers or ribbons, or with polymer clay and embellishments.
