DVDs
Spice up your movie display to showcase what you have. Your collection can do double duty: making it easier to browse through and select a movie, as well as decorate your house a bit. A good display also turns clutter into order. From pairing your collection with other movie paraphernalia to organizing movies by color, take the art of movie display as far as you like.
Shelving
Build a display shelf made of finished wood, wrought iron, colorfully painted fruit crates or even old DVD cases. If you don't have carpentry skills, use wood glue or tie shelves together with twine. The advantage of using DVD cases is that they are much lighter than they look.
Wall Display
Select movies to display on your wall. Pick several of the same genre to go together, or just choose your favorites. Mount them to the wall in neat geometric patterns or artistically space them.
Prop Display
Choose one title for prominent display by mounting it on the wall and hanging reproduction props from the movie next to it. If you want to go all out, try to purchase actual props from that movie.
Time Period
Hang a wagon wheel next to a displayed Western movie.
Hang other items from the time period about which the movie was made, re-creating the atmosphere of the movie.
Color Arrangement
Displaying your movies nicely can be as simple as arranging them by color. It may make it harder to find a particular movie in your collection, but the rainbow is eye candy and creates a sense of organization.
Movie Posters
As they are discarded, get posters advertising the movie from theaters or movie stores. Hang these on your wall with a copy of the movie mounted next to it.
Write to the Producers
Write to the company producing the movie to see if you can get actor or movie posters to hang next to your film.
Framed Movies
Glue a movie case to an empty picture frame.
Mount movie cases to empty picture frames and set them up on a shelf or mantel. You may have to glue the movie cases to the frame backing.
