You can create a kaleidoscope pattern using only circles.
Kaleidoscopes are instruments that use colored shapes, mirrors and light to display changing patterns. The patterns usually feature an assortment of geometric shapes that include a combination of circles and polygons. However, kaleidoscope patterns featuring only curves also exist and you can create themusing cyclotomy, a technique for dividing a circle into equal parts and drawing patterns using geometric rules. Instructions
1. Place your compass with pencil in the center of your paper. Draw a large circle.
2. Divide the circumference of the circle into six equal sections by making small marks along the circumference of the circle. You do not need exact measurements.
3. Place the tip of your compass on one of the marks (Mark A) you made along the circumference of the circle with your pencil on, or close to, the next mark on the right (Mark B). Do not adjust the radius of the compass. Draw a semicircle that extends from Mark B to the mark to the left of Mark A (Mark C). It is OK if your semicircle does not meet Mark B and Mark C exactly.
4. Repeat Step 3 for each mark you made on the circle's circumference.
5. Color in your pattern using multiple colors.
