String A Harmony Electric Guitar

String a Harmony Electric Guitar

Owning a Harmony electric guitar has become a rite of passage for many young musicians. Learning to play the electric guitar can prove to be challenging enough, but you also should learn clean and maintain your instrument to ensure it stays in peak performance shape. One of the first, and most important, things to learn about guitar maintenance is change your strings.

Instructions

1. Pull the string through the empty hole in the back of the guitar. Depending on your make and model the hole may also be in the back, or underneath, the bridge of the guitar.

2. Pull the string until the ball-end is locked into place either underneath the guitar or on the back of the bridge.

3. Lay the string flat until it stretches out across the entire neck of the guitar, making sure it lines up with the appropriate tuning peg.

4. Hold the string exactly one tuning peg past its desired peg and kink the string by bending it away from the guitar.

5. Pull the string through the hole in the tuning peg, from the inside of the guitar to the outside, until the kink hits the inside of the tuning peg.

6. Bend the string upward, on the other side as the first kink, to create a second kink, thus locking the string in place.

7. Using the string winder, wind the tuning peg until the string is tight enough to rest in the nut, located where the neck meets the headstock.

8. Tune the string to its desired pitch and cut off the excess string with the wire cutters.
