Unusual Modern Design Ideas With Paint

Unusual Modern Design Ideas With Paint

Instead of hanging a modern painting, why not just turn an entire wall into a work of art. Modern design can go with most any type of décor, as long as you coordinate the colors. Make your own artwork that will "wow" your friends and family. They'll never know that you need no artistic ability to do this.

Silhouettes

Create a wall of silhouettes that are highlighted and embellished as a modern design idea. Paint your wall a solid color that will go with your décor. Do not go too light or dark, use a medium hue of the color. Pick out objects that will be easy to recognize as silhouettes and keep them in a theme, such as a golf club and golf bag for a golfing theme. For a wall in a bedroom use silhouettes of dresses, pants, shirts, nightgowns and even socks to keep with a theme. Hold the objects up to the wall and trace around them. Use them a few times each and have them go in different directions. Cover the wall with these, spacing them about one foot away from each other.

Paint the traced objects all the different solid colors that go with your décor. When they have dried, paint a line of a different color around the silhouettes to frame them off; then paint small squares, circles, rectangles and triangles inside the objects.

Shapes

Cut some large geometric shapes out of poster board and use them as stencils to trace the shapes onto the wall. They should be traced on a wall that has already been painted a solid base color of your choice. If the wall is light, pick up four darker colors of paint that match your décor. If the wall is dark, pick up four lighter colors.

Trace the figures all over the wall going all different ways, leaving very little of the original painted wall exposed. Paint the shapes with the four colors, alternating them so the colors are evenly dispersed through out the wall. Once they have dried, paint the outside of each figure with a thin black line to frame them off.

Hidden Treasures

Use a faux stone stencil and paint the stone on a small wall using gray, black and white paint. Cover the entire wall in this design. The stencil makes it an easy pattern to create. Next comes the unusual part of the modern design for your wall. Use the same colors that you used in the faux stone painting and paint little hidden designs in the wall. The designs can be anything, a face, a hand, shoes, rabbit and salt and pepper shakers along with anything else you would consider a fun thing to bury into the painting of this wall.

This idea will take a little bit of artistic talent. You will need to paint free hand objects and blend them into the background. You do not want the designs to be seen unless you really look for them. The wall will not only act as an accent wall to jazz up your room, it will make quite the conversation piece as you look closely for the hidden objects, almost like a treasure hunt.
