Making A Greeting Card

Give handmade greeting cards to friends and family.

Whether you are making holiday, birthday, thank you or everyday "thinking of you" cards, use various scrapbooking and art supplies from the craft store to construct your paper masterpiece. Sending custom greeting cards to friends and family may make them feel honored that you took the time to create a piece of art especially for them. Keep the recipient's interests and hobbies in mind when brainstorming ideas for the card and write a custom verse inside the card or choose from various free greeting card wording options via the Internet.

Instructions

1. Fold a piece of white card stock in half ensuring that the corners match exactly before pressing the fold. Thread an ordinary sewing needle with a length of clear thread. Sew a button into the center of a fake flower piece through each buttonhole. Adhere the button flower to the center of the card front with a piece of double-sided tape.

2. Write a greeting from the flower to the bottom edge of the card, posing as a stem, with a fine-point black or green marker. Use very small print to write Happy Birthday, Thinking of You, Get Well Soon or other appropriate greeting into the stem shape. Repeat the greeting as necessary to stretch to the edge of the card.

3. Fold and trim a piece of decorative floral paper to 1/4-inch smaller than each of the sides of the card stock piece with scissors. Write a rhyming verse or personalized note on the right side of the folded paper.

4. Lay the decorative paper inside the card stock and punch one hole on each end of the fold approximately 1-1/2 inches from the card edge through both layers. Cut an 8-inch length or ribbon in a color matching the flower color. Thread through the two holes and tie in a bow on the outside of the card fold.
