Use An Embossing Folder With A Rolling Pin

Embossing adds texture and design to paper.

An embossing folder, or embossing plate, adds a three-dimensional design or impression to paper. The textured or indented pattern lends a personalized, hand-crafted touch to cards, stationary and scrapbook pages. Typically, an embossing machine presses the folder into the paper. But if you don't have an embossing machine, a rolling pin and some elbow grease will do.

Instructions

1. Lay the embossing folder on a flat, even surface and open it like a greeting card. The interior of the back panel contains the raised design.

2. Insert a piece of paper or cardstock evenly over the bottom flap of the folder. Close the top flap over the paper.

3. Roll the rolling pin over the embossing folder, in an up and down motion, applying a great deal of pressure. The more pressure you apply, the bolder the design will appear. Roll over the folder repeatedly for a couple of minutes, then remove the freshly embossed paper.
