Using embossing powder on tissue is easy, and can create a variety of effects, depending upon the stamps, inks and powders you choose. You can use embossed stamped tissue on all sorts of projects, including candles and flowerpots. Add variety to your stamping and find a new use for your old craft supplies with rubber stamping and embossing on tissue.
Supplies and Materials
Rubber stamping and embossing on tissue requires supplies most paper crafters already have on hand. You will need rubber stamps, preferably in designs without too much detail. Pigment inks, embossing powders and a craft heat gun are also necessary. Ordinary tissue paper works quite well when embossing on tissue, and you can use white or colored paper. Depending upon what you plan to do with the tissue after you emboss it, you may want to have decoupage medium or a similar product on hand.
Embossed Tissue on Candles
Stamp a simple design onto your tissue using pigment ink. Dust with embossing powder and shake away the excess. Use a heat gun to melt the embossing powder to a glossy and raised finish. Allow the embossing powder on tissue to cool, then cut the image out. Place the stamped and embossed image onto a pillar-style candle. Heat carefully with your craft heat gun until the wax has softened and secure the image into place. Light-colored candles are the most effective choice for this tissue embossing project.
Tissue Decoupage
Rubber stamp an image or several images onto tissue paper and emboss as desired. Color with colored pencils, if you wish. Prepare the surface for decoupage by painting or sanding, if needed. Apply decoupage medium over the surface to be decoupaged with embossed tissue. Press the tissue paper into place and paint over the embossed tissue with more of the decoupage medium. Use this technique to decoupage flowerpots, shelves, small boxes or other decorative items.
