Print Vinyl Rolls

Vinyl banners are often used for advertising.

Vinyl is a smooth, plastic-like material that is used for banners, signs and similar projects. You can cut pieces from the roll and imprint an image or message on it using digital printing. This process does require some high-tech printing equipment, but the printer is small enough to have at home. If you have some basic knowledge of digital printing and start with a design that has already been created in photo-editing software, this process is fairly fast and straightforward.

Instructions

1. Smooth and tighten the vinyl roll with your hands as necessary. There should be no wrinkles or loose parts, and the roll should be tight, smooth and even on both ends.

2. Load the end of the roll into the backside of the printer's slot. Pull the banner through to the front of the printer to the point where you want to start printing on the vinyl roll. The printing will begin at the ink cartridges located within the slot of the printer, in between any grommets on the roll and not on them. Any grommets on the roll should fit within the printer's slot.

3. Secure the roll in the printer. Press down the lever on the side of the printer so that it is in the locked position.

4. Click "File" and then "Print" in the graphic-design software you used to create the image or message. Confirm that the print settings align with the format of the image or message. Click "Print" to begin printing. The printing process is slower than that of a normal printer.

5. Trim the vinyl with heavy-duty scissors if there is extra vinyl around the printed image or message.
