Craft shows provide an opportunity to find one-of-a-kind treasures. Artisans display and sell pottery, basketry, jewelry, quilts and even hand-painted clothing. In West Virginia, festivals take place throughout the year and all over the state with Appalachian artisans providing demonstrations and selling their works of art.
Appalachian Arts and Crafts Fair
The three-day Appalachian Arts and Crafts Fair takes place in August each year. Over 100 artisans display their arts and crafts, and visitors find quilts, pottery, sculpture, baskets, clothing and woodwork. West Virginia talent on display includes craft demonstrations, Celtic music and bluegrass bands. The events take place in Beckley at the Raleigh County Convention Center.
Mountain State Art and Craft Fair
The Mountain State Art and Craft Fair takes place the first weekend in July in Ripley, West Virginia at the Cedar Lakes Conference Center. It is one of the leading arts and crafts fairs in the nation.Sunshine Artist Magazine named it one of the top five traditional craft shows. The show attracts more than 130 Appalachian artisans who demonstrate and sell their crafts. You can find a variety of arts and crafts made with wood, metal and glass, baskets, jewelry and original clothing. Visitors can find food booths, music and family entertainment on site.
Lions Tri-State Arts and Crafts Festival
Huntington, West Virginia hosts the Lions Tri-State Arts and Crafts Festival the first weekend in December. . Over 200 exhibitors display their crafts during this juried show. The festival is in the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.
Dogwood Arts and Crafts Show
The Dogwood Arts and Crafts Show takes place in April in Huntington, West Virginia. It is the largest indoor craft show in the Tri-State area. More than 135 exhibitors display their crafts at this juried show. Visitors can enjoy music and other entertainment during the event at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.
Rhododendron State Outdoor Art and Craft Festival
Rhododendron State Outdoor Art and Craft Festival presents in June on the State Capitol grounds in Charleston, West Virginia. The festival attracts over 200 exhibitors for this non-juried show. The festival includes pottery, photography, fine artwork, fiber and wood crafts. The festival gives prizes to exhibitors.
