"
Naruto" is an anime series and a best-selling manga in America that features the adventures of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who wants to one day lead his village. When you cosplay as a character from "Naruto," you may enjoy attending an anime convention or an event in costume. You may also want to cosplay for a masquerade performance of the character or attend a Halloween event in costume.
Naruto Uzumaki: Pre-teen
The titular character of the series, Naruto Uzumaki, wears a bright orange outfit at the beginning of the series when he's still a pre-teen. You can find an orange Naruto jacket with white trim at some costume suppliers, online or at a store like Hot Topic, which carries official "Naruto" clothing and merchandise. Wear orange pants as well. If you can't find the Naruto jacket, try wearing an orange jumpsuit decorated with blue fabric or duct tape across the shoulders and a shirt with a white collar. You'll need a red circular patch with a black spiral for the back of the jacket and a white circular patch with a black spiral for the left arm of the jacket. Buy an official "Naruto" headband or make one yourself. The finishing touch is open-toed shoes. Cut off the toes of old boots if you can't find blue sandals.
Naruto Uzumaki: Teenager
When "Naruto Shippuden" begins, Naruto is 15. He's changed his look as well. While he still wears orange, there's more black in his outfit. While you can still wear all-orange pants, a "Naruto" headband and open-toed boots, you'll need to adjust the jacket to one with black across the shoulders, down the front of the shirt and on the sleeves. Look for the jacket at a costume supplier, online or at Hot Topic -- or use black duct tape on your orange jacket.
Kakashi Hatake
Naruto's instructor, Kakashi Hatake, makes for an interesting "Naruto" costume largely because he masks so much of his face. For Kakashi's outfit, wear a navy blue jumpsuit. You can purchase Kakashi's green vest online, from a costume supplier or Hot Topic; you can also modify a basic green vest yourself. Just add a red circular patch with a black spiral on it on the top back center area of the jacket. For Kakashi's distinct facial coverings, wear an official "Naruto" headband across your left eye. Buy a navy blue half ski mask to cover your nose and mouth as well.
Sakura Haruno: Pre-teen
Naruto's teammate Sakura is the primary female character in the series. Her look as a pre-teen early on in the series is more feminine than her later look. Get a long pink wig and an official "Naruto" headband to wear across the top of your head as a hair decoration. You'll need open-toed sandals as well. Sakura wears black shorts under a red dress with slits up the side, like a Mandarin-style dress. Purchase the dress from a costume supplier or modify a similar red dress.
