Rhinestone Design Ideas

Rhinestone Design Ideas

Every wedding needs a little sparkle. Accentuate yours with rhinestones and sparkly crystals. You can attach them to a wide variety of wedding items-from shoes to cakes to invitations. Try not to go overboard on the glitz, unless you have a wedding budget to back up all of the expenses. A subtle flash of rhinestones here and there goes a long way in creating elegance and beauty at your special affair.

Cake Toppers

Design your own rhinestone cake topper. Buy a plain cake topper in the form of your and your groom's initials. Attach rhinestones or small Swarovski crystals to the front of the cake topper with a little jewelry glue. Use similar, pre-made toppers as a model. Or you can buy one for about $40.

Bouquets

Attach rhinestones to the blooms of your bridal bouquet by buying a pack of rhinestones that are attached to wires and made specifically to be placed in the center of small flowers, such as stephanotis. These rhinestone wires also can be blended into the bouquet by inserting them among the flowers. If you cut the wires, you can insert them into a cake as jewelry.

Invitations

Attach a single, flat rhinestone in the middle of the top border of every invitation. This is an economical way to add glitz to an otherwise plain invitation. Use a craft glue that is sturdy and dries transparently. You do not want the rhinestone to fall off while being shuffled around at the post office.

Shoes

Use a hot glue gun to bedazzle a pair of plain wedding shoes. You can use larger rhinestones or faux jewels-about the size of your thumb-to create a glitzy design on the toe of the shoe.

Hair Jewelry

Design a beautiful set of rhinestone hair clips by buying inexpensive barrettes or bobby pins and gluing rhinestones on the surface of the barrettes or clips with a hot glue gun. You'll get instant glam for just a few dollars.
