Texas Gun Shops

Texas law requires all hunters born on or after September 2, 1971 to take a hunting safety class.

Hunting is a popular sport in Texas. There are gun seasons to hunt turkey, waterfowl, white-tail deer and alligator. Texas requires concealed handgun licensing but does not require a permit for the purchase of rifles or shotguns. Gun laws change regularly and it is best to verify the most current laws. See the Texas Department of Public Safety website to check the laws.

Memorial Shooting Range

Beginning hunters and recreational shooters looking for instruction in Houston can visit the Memorial Shooting Center. Memorial sells firearms and ammunition and has an indoor practice range. They also offer shooting classes, concealed handgun licensing classes and safety instruction. Memorial Shooting Center is large, with a neat, well-kept stock and a knowledgeable staff to assist you. The range is completely air conditioned, so shooting is comfortable even on the hottest, most humid of summer days in Houston.

Tex-Guns

Families often pass down hunting traditions from one generation to the next. If tradition is important to you, you can purchase your hunting rifle or shotgun from a like-minded dealer. In Austin the family-owned and operated retailer Tex-Guns has been selling firearms and supplies since 1983. The shop is known for its excellent selection of firearms and while small, Tex-Guns has a reputation for fair prices that can stand up to their larger competitors.

DFW Gun Range

Hunters in the Dallas-Fort Worth region of Texas can purchase guns and ammo and take education and safety classes at the DFW Gun Range. In addition to gun, ammunition and accessories, DFW provides education for concealed handgun licensing, hunting, personal defense, rifle/carbine/shotgun classes and security officer classes. If you aren't ready to buy, you can rent guns for practice at the shooting range. You can't miss the DFW Gun Range building, which has a large bulls eye target painted over the front door.

Nagel's Gun Shop

Recreational shooters in San Antonio with guns to trade or sell can do so at Nagel's Gun Shop. The Nagel family has owned and operated their store since 1942, selling firearms, ammunition, and hunting equipment as well as providing gunsmithing services. Nagel's will purchase your guns directly or take them on consignment. Located at the intersection of San Pedro Avenue and El Mio Drive, Nagel's is known for their excellent gun collection and reasonably priced knife-sharpening services.
