Visit The Museum Of Contemporary Art In Seoul Korea

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul, Korea, is an important depository of Asian art in general and Korean art in particular. The museum is located in an idyllic location in Seoul Grand Park, outside the city accessible by taking a bus or walking there (about 20 minutes).

Visit the Museum


1. Explore the modern craft collection, especially items from the 1960s and 1970s.


2. View rooms showcasing sculptures, which are organized by their meaning rather than age. The Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul are organized by categories of Modern, Abstract, Figurative and New Stream.


3. The children's gallery has a unique display especially for the little ones. Besides exhibits, the children's gallery also hosts workshops and hands-on themed activities, such as "Exploring Abstract Art" and "Exploring Painting in Korea." Some of the works produced by children are showcased in the gallery.


4. The temporary exhibits present a glimpse of art around the world. Recent shows included Georg Baselitz's Russian Paintings, a display of works based on Noah's ark and a Modern Chinese Art exhibition.


5. Enjoythe open-air sculpture garden, showcases 70 items from different artists year-around. During the summer, dance and music performances are held on the garden grounds.


6. Check the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea website for opening hours, ticket price and information on parking facilities, as these change throughout the year (see Resources below). For example, the museum is open until 5:00 p.m. from November to February, but until 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. (depending on the day) from March to October. The museum is not open on Mondays.
