Phone Seoul Korea

Many options exist to call Seoul.

There are many ways to phone Seoul, South Korea. Some of them are more expensive and time-consuming than others. New technology allows callers to pay very low rates compared to just a few years ago. Using your knowledge of current communications technology and your personal preferences, find the best option for you to call Seoul. Be sure of the phone number before you call, so that you can save time and frustration in placing your call.

Instructions

1. Calculate the time difference between your location and Seoul. Seoul is UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) plus nine hours. Use The World Clock-Time Zone Converter or another online time zone converter to find out how far ahead or behind Seoul is from where you are (See Resources). This is important so that you call during business hours or when the individual you are trying to reach is awake.

2. Purchase a calling card to get lower rates to call Seoul. Follow the instructions on the back of the card to utilize the phone card. You will have to dial the phone card company's phone number, then a pin number that is printed on the card.

3. Dial 011, which is the international access code when calling from the United States. Then dial 82, the country code for South Korea. Finally, dial 2, the Seoul city code and the local telephone number. Some phone companies will allow you to press the pound key to connect more quickly.

4. Use a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) service to call Seoul. VOIP companies use broadband Internet to let you place phone calls around the world for very low rates. Choose a VOIP provider from VOIP Review, VOIP News or another VOIP list if you have a broadband Internet connection.

5. Use an online messenger such as Skype, Yahoo! Messenger or Windows Messenger to talk to someone in Seoul for free. You both must have a computer with an Internet connection, a messenger account and a microphone and speakers. A headset works best to reduce echo. You can also use Skype to call a phone in Seoul, but you must pay for the service.
