An "@" sign
Creating an email ID is a simple process, but deciding on what exactly to use for that email address can be thought-provoking. On the one hand, you want an email ID that expresses your individuality and is an expression of yourself. On the other hand, you don't want an email ID that reveals too much about yourself, as that could lead to a compromised identity.
Make it Personal
Although you don't want to give away your life story in your email ID, you want it to be personal, so that your friends, co-workers and family members can easily remember it. For example, if your name is Alice J. Smith, a perfectly acceptable email ID that is sufficiently personal would be "asmith@domain.com," "alicejs@domain.com" or "ajsmith@domain.com."
Make it Unique
In today's world, most people have their own email addresses, and since no two people can have the same email, creating a unique email ID can be challenging, especially if you have a name like Alice J. Smith. Try combining different parts of your name with other letters or numbers to see if you can come up with something. Examples might "AliceJS12@domain.com," "AJS12@domain.com" and "SmithAJ@domain.com."
Make it Safe
Although you want your email ID to be personal and unique, it is important to keep it somewhat anonymous. You should refrain from revealing your full name, or from attaching the last four numbers of your Social Security number or your birth year to the email ID. An example of an unsafe email address would be "alicejsmith@domain.com" or "alicesmith1981@domain.com." These email IDs contain too much information and could place the user at risk for identity theft.
