Practice Acting For Kids

Acting helps children develop confidence.

Acting is an art that that has to be perfected over time. To practice acting with kids you first must first prepare them for the business. Kiddin' Around Talent and Modeling in Atlanta, Ga., encourages parents "to learn the business of the business." There should be a clear understanding that this is something the kids really want to do before you continue. It will take time, money and practice to perfect the craft. Children who practice acting are disciplined and dedicated in improving their skills.

1. Locate a theater group in your community. This is one of the best introduction programs for practice acting. Your child will be able to learn study scripts, understand what to do when cued, and experience the thrill of performance in front of a live audience. Theater performance encourages talent creation.

2. Get your kids a talent agent. Some agencies provide classes to teach kids model, act and dance. Acting agencies will instruct you on begin acting. Things like head shots (pictures) and resumes will be needed for kids' acting gigs. Acting class instruction is usually offered for a fee. The benefits of completing the classes will give your kids the practice they need for the agency to promote and send them on casting calls.

3. Locate casting calls for movie extras in your community. Most major cities frequently shoot movies, and local casting directors will look for people to be a part of the background or perform small parts. This is a free method to see whether your kids are really interested in acting and allows them to practice on an actual production set. Directors will give instructions and kids will learn by following instructions. Extras are normally paid a small fee by the casting agency. Check online, in newspapers or through casting agencies for opportunities in your area.

4. Perform in school plays and productions. Your child will be able to learn basic acting etiquette by participating in school plays. Performing at school could be a fun way for kids to practice their craft and perform with their friends.
